I did it, I worked hard and bought a ton of coffee and now I have a brand new Starbucks Gold Membership card of my very own. I’m not really the biggest Starbucks fan. I like supporting the little guys; the local coffee houses with mismatched chairs and tables, odd hours, and music I have never heard of playing in the background. But I live directly above a Starbucks and their membership/gift cards help me save money, and for me that is a big plus. As I outlined in my last Cheap Ass Geek post I use gift cards to stick to a budget. Giving myself a monthly allowance on a card means I rarely go over what I intend to spend. My Starbucks gift card gives me perks while I stay frugal, making Starbucks the obvious go-to for an out-of-office workplace for me.
So here are my new perks for being a frugal gold card member:
- A Free Beverage on Your Birthday (December 06)
- Free Beverage Customization
- Free Brewed Coffee or Tea Refills with Each Visit
- Free Tall Beverage with Whole Bean Purchase
- Free Trial Offers
- Free Drink Every 15 Stars
- Personalized Gold Card
- Personalized Offers and Coupons
Since I generally drink hot tea in the winter and iced tea in the summer I’m looking at free refills through out my work day. I’ll always tip the baristas when I get them (proper etiquette and all). Personalized coupons and offers – awesome coupons are always welcome at my house! Free drink every 15 stars! I’m in the coffee shop about twice a week so that will add up to quite a few free drinks over the next year, thus extending my drink budget even further.
Ok so it’s not huge news, but I’m pretty happy about one more way I can save money to fund my geek lifestyle. It’s the little victories in life that really make my day.
